Update on Food Allergen Labelling Legislation
Current labelling requirements for allergens
The Food Labelling (Amendment) (England) (No.2) Regulations 2004 have been updated by UK SI 2010 No.402 The Food Labelling (Declaration of Allergens) (England) Regulations 2011.*

In turn, The Food Labelling Regulations 1996 have been amended.
The Food Labelling (Amendment) (England) (No.2) Regulations 2005 have also been amended by The Food Labelling (Declaration of Allergens) (England) Regulations 2008.*
*Similar Regulations were implemented for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Allergens:
The following cereals containing gluten: wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut and their hybridised strains.
Crustaceans.
Eggs.
Fish.
Peanuts.
Soybeans.
Milk.
The following nuts: Almond (Amygdalus communis L.), Hazelnut (Corylus avellana), Walnut (Juglans regia), Cashew (Anacardium occidentale), Pecan nut (Carya illinoiesis (Wangenh.) K. Koch), Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa), Pistachio nut (Pistacia vera), Macadamia nut and Queensland nut (Macadamia ternifolia)
Celery.
Mustard.
Sesame seeds.
Sulphur dioxide and sulphites at concentrations of more than 10 mg/kg or 10 mg/litre expressed as SO2.
Lupin
Molluscs
